This page is taken directly from the email I got, word for word. I didn't change it at all. I think it speaks for itself.
"In your discussion about who is in the VFD, you mention that you think "K" is the sister of Jacques and Lemony, based upon evidence from the family tree on page 196-7 of the LSUA.
But unfortunately, there's something that doesn't fit right with that. Starting with the family tree, we see that "C" stands for Charles Snicket, as stated in the legend in the lower left hand corner.
Charles Snicket then has a son with the initial "E" who is the parent of "J," "K," and "L." I assume that "E" must be the father so that the Snicket last name would carry down to Jacques and Lemony. All good so far.
The problem, however, is that according to the "Little Snicket Lad" song, Jake was the name of the Lemony's father, not anything beginning with the letter "E." Unless of course his name was Elwyn (page 39, TAA), and everyone just called him Jake.
Any thoughts?"
My reply to that was that perhaps this tree was a VFD tree. Chas Snicket is the top dog, and underneath him, there is D, E, and Fm as the second levels, and under them, the others, including J, K, and L. So, perhaps it's a tree of the VFD Rank and File.
Another thought that I just had right now, is that perhaps the Elwyn mentioned above is Jake, and the explanation goes thusly:
Snicket likes to insert all sorts of literary references into his books, and one of my favorite ones is Mr. Poe's sons being named Edgar and Albert. A joke on Edgar Allen Poe, of course. Perhaps Jake and Elwyn are one and the same people, because, weren't the Blues Brothers named Jake and Elwood? So, just as he changed Edagr Allen Poe to Edgar and Albert, perhaps Jake and Elwood became Jake and ELwyn to point to a connection. I don't know. That's a looney theory, and we all know it.
Now, interestingly, look at the branch where J and K are. They seem to sprout off of each other. We can wonder what that means, or we can look at the ASOUE calendar - which tells us that Jacques and his sister were born on the same day. Twins.
More proof of this comes from Phanta who writes:
ÓLook at the picture on the bottom [of] page [70 in LSUA]. At first glance, all these children appear to be twins. "But Phanta," you ask, "Aren't these the Quagmires triplets?" NO! The Quagmires are DARK HAIRED. It says so, in Book the Fifth, TAA. In fact, they are pictured numerous times with dark hair! Obviously, not the Quags. So who are they? Look closer at the picture. The boy on the right of the girl is shorter then the other two, and looks significantly younger. I think this is a picture of Lemony, with his two older siblings. I mean, who else are they gonna be? Although I don't have the foggiest idea as to WHY only Lemony and K would be sent to Prufrock, and not Jacques. But we do know that Prufrock has some sort of connection to VFD. What better place to send children who are novices in the organization?
