Is Jerome Squalor in VFD?
NO.
No no no no no no no no no.
In case you missed it, NO.
Now, why do we think that? Because in LSUA, Jacques Snicket writes a letter to Jerome. Jacques says to Jerome (and this is a paraphrase cause I don't have the book with me), "I am a member of a organization that occasionally requires it's members to pretend to be various occupations..." (LSUA pg 122)
If Jerome were part of VFD, Jacques wouldn't have bothered to describe it in such a way.
If Jerome were in VFD, he wouldn't need to be informed about the history of VFD, and the schism that took place (LSUA, pg 123)
If Jerome were in VFD, Jacques would have started the letter with a "Dear J." (LSUA, 122)
If Jerome were in VFD, Jacques would have ended the letter with "The World is Quiet Here." (LSUA 124)
If Jerome were in VFD, he'd understand the TRUE meaning behind Esmé's sinister words on LSUA pg 124, about giving Jacques what he deserves. Instead, he doesn't.
Jerome is totally and completely clueless about Esmé being an evil mean cruel and horrible person. (TEE (all of it) as well as LSUA 125).
If Jerome were in VFD, Esmé would not need Geraldine Julienne to find out Jerome's habits and routines. (LSUA pg 120).
Jerome is NOT in VFD. He isn't. He's not. Let it go. Esmé is, yes, absolutely. Gunther? Yes. He's Olaf after all. Jerome? No. Fuhgeddaboudit!
